An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated Healthcare Support Worker to join the Learning Disability Team within NHS Dumfries and Galloway.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support individuals, families and carers to access the right care, promote independence and achieve positive health outcomes.

The NHS Learning Disability Team is a specialist multidisciplinary service that supports adults who have learning disabilities, helping them live healthier, safer, and more independent lives. The team works closely with individuals, families, carers, and partner agencies to provide person-centred care that meets each individual’s needs.
Who’s in the team?
As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will work under the supervision and direction of registered nurses within the Learning Disability Team. You will support the delivery of person-centred care and interventions for people with learning disabilities across community settings. Key responsibilities include; Providing practical and emotional support to people with learning disabilities and their families/carers; Assisting individuals to access healthcare services and promoting health improvement; Contributing to behavioural support interventions and low-level anxiety management strategies; Monitoring and recording progress, reporting concerns and changes in presentation to registered staff; Participating in health promotion activities, wellbeing initiatives and community-based programmes; Working collaboratively with health, social care and third-sector partners.
