Barnsley Hospital are seeking an experiencedmedical secretary to support the Trauma & Orthopaedic service. This is botha demanding and rewarding role and it is essential that the successfulapplicant is able to work effectively as part of the team, supporting andassisting colleagues, whilst prioritising and managing a diverse workload.
The post holder will be responsible for theeffective provision of a comprehensive secretarial/administrative service to ateam of consultants, middle grade doctors, junior doctors and nursing teamswithin Orthopadics.
Previous medical secretarial experience andknowledge of medical terminology would be preferred, but is not essential.
The Trauma & Orthopeadic team at Barnsley ismade up of a diverse, welcoming team of medics, nurses and administrativepersonnel who provide a high quality of care for patients and service users inBarnsley.

Full time hours are preferable however part timewould be considered.

The successful applicant will act as the focalpoint of contact and will be responsible for the dissemination of information,messages and enquiries for the medical team, liaising with multi-disciplinaryteam members, as well as other health professionals/staff both internally andexternally.
The medical secretary post is responsible fortranscribing audio files accurately using digital dictation, within the Trusttimeframes, including any additional tasks e.g. follow up appointments, lettersto other professionals etc.
Successful candidates will have good communicationskills, be organised and work well as part of a team. Post holders are expectedto have a flexible and "can do" approach in ensuring the work of thedepartment is carried out to the required high standards.
The role is varied and requires proven adminexperience with excellent IT skills including very good knowledge of MicrosoftOffice 365 package. The post holder will need to have high level ofcommunication skills, an eye for detail and an ability to self-manage competingpriorities daily. This can be a fast-paced role and can provide the rightcandidate with a fantastic opportunity to take on new skills, knowledge andexperiences which can help support further career progression. The posts offeran excellent opportunity to develop and gain desirable skills.
