Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Control Room Operator in Bristol to monitor traffic, manage incidents, and coordinate with emergency services and road maintenance teams from our Regional Operations Centre at Brunel House. The role operates 24/7, 6 days on/3 days off, with shifts including early, late, and night slots.

The starting salary is up to £36,262.50 (base plus 25% shift allowance), rising to £37,762.50 after nine months.

Responsibilities

• Monitor live traffic conditions using CCTV and sensors.
• Coordinate responses to incidents, dispatching traffic officers and notifying emergency services.
• Provide accurate updates to road users and media through signs and feeds.
• Collaborate with police, fire services, and local authorities.
• Coordinate maintenance and construction activities with safety focus.
