Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Control Room Operator based at the Regional Operations Centre in Potters Bar to support 24/7 road network operations. You will monitor traffic, coordinate incidents, and provide timely information to road users while working within a fast-paced, safety-focused team.

The role requires strong communication, decision-making, and the ability to work shifts as part of a 24/7 cover.

Qualifications

• Decision-making and problem-solving skills required.
• Excellent communication skills and telephone manner.
• High typing proficiency and ability to learn new systems.

Responsibilities

• Monitor live traffic conditions using CCTV, sensors and data feeds.
• Coordinate incident response with police, fire and local authorities.
• Update road users with timely information and sign updates.
• Coordinate road maintenance and construction to minimize disruption.
• Ensure safety and smooth operations of the road network.
