Band 7 Acute Orthopaedics

Clinical Team Lead Physiotherapist

37 hours, Mon-Fri (permanent)

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to share leadership of our dynamic Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Team, covering 98 Trauma beds, 24 elective beds and a 24 bedded Day Surgery Unit on a full time basis.

Candidates must display evidence of excellent clinical reasoning in both an Elective and Trauma environment, as well as show an advanced ability to prioritise and discharge plan for a wide range of presentations. You will have experience in service development to support a very proactive team who are involved in various Quality Improvement projects at a uni-professional and multidisciplinary team level within Orthopaedics.

Candidates must demonstrate leadership skills to provide effective management for a team of 20 Physiotherapy staff comprising static and rotational Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Support Workers who provide a seamless service to patients within the Orthopaedic Unit.

As Physiotherapy team lead for orthopaedics you will participate collaboratively with the RIE’s other team leads across a range of organisational and professional topics as required by the service and as delegated from head of service. This will ensure an equitable service is provided across the hospital site. You will have responsibility for organising and participating in the orthopaedic weekend working rota, which operates with a 5 days out of 7 working pattern. Additionally, you will contribute once a week to our extended day service for our Enhanced Recovery unit and Day Surgery Unit.

The range of conditions and specialities encountered, and requirement for excellence in leadership and team working in this post at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh will allow the successful candidate to gain extensive and in-depth experience as a clinical band 7 physiotherapist.

Physiotherapy Services support staff development through appraisal processes, supervision and CPD opportunities.
