Job summary

Long Term Futures Ltd in Erdington, Birmingham, is seeking a compassionate SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEN school. You will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a KS4 pupil with additional needs and help them access learning.

Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and therapy team, you will implement EHCP strategies, promote positive behaviour and independence, monitor progress, and communicate with parents and staff to secure the best outcomes for the pupil.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable.
• Patience, resilience and a nurturing approach are essential.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a KS4 pupil throughout the school day
• Supporting the pupil to access learning activities tailored to their individual needs
• Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive engagement with education
• Implementing strategies outlined in the pupil's EHCP
• Supporting emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour with consistency
• Building a trusting relationship while maintaining professional boundaries
• Monitoring progress and providing regular feedback to teaching staff
• Collaborating with teachers, therapists and parents to maximise outcomes

Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEN School in Erdington, Birmingham. This rewarding role involves providing dedicated support to a KS4 pupil with additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is patient, resilient, and passionate about making a meaningful difference in the life of a young person through consistent, individualised support.

Working Hours:

• Monday to Thursday:8:30am - 3:30pm

• Friday: 8:30am - 1:45pm (early finish)

About the Role

Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a KS4 pupil throughout the school day
• Supporting the pupil to access learning activities tailored to their individual needs

• Building a strong, trusting relationship while maintaining clear professional boundaries

• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure the best possible outcomes

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable
• A good understanding of Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, or other additional needs is advantageous
• Patient, calm, and resilient, with a nurturing approach
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Able to adapt to the individual needs of pupils and remain consistent in your approach
• Reliable, proactive, and committed to a long-term role
• Passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential
