Job summary

Long Term Futures Ltd is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant in Erdington, Birmingham. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and support team to provide individualised support for a KS4 pupil throughout the school day.

The role focuses on tailored learning activities, independence, and positive engagement, while implementing EHCP strategies and promoting emotional regulation. A nurturing, patient approach is essential for long-term commitment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable.
• Understanding of Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, or other additional needs is advantageous.
• Patient, calm, and resilient, with a nurturing approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Able to adapt to the individual needs of pupils and remain consistent in your approach.
• Reliable, proactive, and committed to a long-term role.
• Passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a KS4 pupil throughout the school day.

• Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive engagement with education.
• Implementing strategies outlined within the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
• Supporting emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour using consistent approaches.
• Building a strong, trusting relationship while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
• Monitoring progress and providing regular feedback to teaching staff.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Job description

1 to 1 Teaching Assistant

Erdington, Birmingham

£110-£115 per day

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full-time, long-term (Full Academic Year)

Working Hours

• Monday to Thursday: 8:30am - 3:30pm


• Friday: 8:30am - 1:45pm (early finish)

About the Role

Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
