Job summary

Barnet Primary School in Barnet is seeking a 1-2-1 Teaching Assistant to support a year one child with high needs, including ASD, on a 1-2-1 basis and general classroom assistance as the child settles in.

You will assist with early phonics and literacy, support EYFS interventions, and work with the SEND team to develop communication and literacy skills through songs, stories and practical activities.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with ASD in EYFS/SEND settings.
• Strong knowledge of early phonics and literacy development.
• Ability to engage children with songs, stories and practical activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-2-1 support and general classroom assistance as the child settles into the new year.
• Support early phonics and literacy activities in line with EYFS plans.
• Assist with phonics interventions and reinforce key sounds and reading concepts.
• Encourage communication and language development using visual supports.
• Adapt activities for individual needs, including sensory and communication needs.
• Use songs, rhymes and stories to foster phonological awareness and a love of language.
• Support transitions and daily routines as required.
