Job summary

The Catch-Up Academy in Greater London is seeking an In-Person Tutor to provide 1:1 tuition for students unable to attend school due to SEN, SEMH, or mental health challenges. Sessions run during school hours with flexible, term-time work to help learners re-engage with learning and rebuild confidence.

You’ll work individually with students, adapting techniques to suit each learner and collaborating with families and professionals to monitor progress.

Qualifications

• Experience tutoring or teaching children, especially with SEN/SEMH or behavioural needs.
• DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one.
• Driving licence and access to transport for travel to student locations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 tuition sessions during school hours (typically 9:00 AM–3:00 PM, Mon–Fri).
• Work with students who are out of school, often in their homes or community settings.
• Support learners across key subjects (English, Maths, Science) with personalised teaching methods.
• Focus on rebuilding trust and engagement with learning, not just academics.
• Communicate with parents/carers, schools and support professionals to track and promote progress.
• Log student outcomes and feedback clearly to support each learner’s journey.
