Job summary

The Catch-Up Academy is seeking an In-Person Tutor to support students who cannot attend school due to SEN, SEMH, or mental health needs. You’ll deliver 1:1 sessions during school hours, typically 9:00 AM–3:00 PM, term-time only, often at students’ homes or community settings.

You’ll build trust, adapt teaching to individual needs, and log progress while communicating with parents and schools. DBS check is essential or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Experience tutoring or teaching children with SEN or SEMH.
• Independent work style with flexible timetable.
• Excellent communication and rapport with challenging learners.
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one and safeguarding knowledge.
• Driver's license and access to transport for travel to student locations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 tuition sessions during school hours.
• Tutor students out of school, often at home or in community settings.
• Support learning across core subjects with personalised methods.
• Rebuild engagement and confidence in learning.
• Communicate progress with parents, schools and others.
• Record outcomes and feedback to track each learner's journey.
