Job summary

Classroom Recruiters is partnering with a reputable school in the Matlock area to recruit a 1:1 Teaching Assistant. You will support a named pupil throughout the academic year, delivering tailored learning support within a welcoming school environment.

Initially on a 10-week probation, the role moves to a permanent contract with a six-month probation period. Hours are 8:15 to 16:15, with full-time preferred but part-time options exist (minimum three days per week).

Qualifications

• Experience in a school or supporting children/young people is essential.
• Empathy and patience to support a pupil with challenges.
• Adaptability to tailor approaches to each pupil's needs.
• Positive attitude to motivate and reassure the pupil.

Responsibilities

• 1:1 Support: work with a named pupil, provide tailored support.
• Learning Support: assist the class teacher with tasks and resources.
• Support with Additional Needs: assist pupils with SEND where needed.
• Behaviour and Wellbeing Support: help manage routines and transitions.
• Collaborative Approach: work with teachers, SENCO, and pastoral teams.
• Communication Skills: share updates with staff and liaise with parents as appropriate.
