Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a compassionate Teaching Assistant in the Alfreton area to support pupils with SEND in a full-time, term-time role.

You will provide 1:1 and small group support, assist with learning activities guided by EHCPs, and help foster confidence and positive behaviour within a safe classroom environment.

Collaborating with teaching staff, SENCOs and external professionals, you’ll contribute to an inclusive learning environment and safeguarding compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (Autism, ADHD or complex needs).
• Patient, caring and resilient.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection expectations.
• School or specialist-setting experience desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND.
• Assist with tailored learning activities guided by EHCPs.
• Promote confidence, independence and positive behaviour.
• Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and external professionals.
• Help maintain a safe, engaging and supportive classroom environment.
