An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join an alternative provision, supporting a highly vulnerable student with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This long-term, full-time role requires an individual who is compassionate, resilient, and committed to making a meaningful difference in a young person’s education and wellbeing.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a student with complex SEND needs.
  • Assist in managing emotional and behavioural challenges, creating a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to implement personalized learning strategies.
  • Foster strong relationships, building trust and encouraging engagement in education.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Essential: Experience working with children with SEND, particularly those who require high levels of support.
  • A patient, understanding, and committed approach to supporting vulnerable students.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A full-time, long-term commitment to providing consistency and stability.

About the School

This alternative provision supports students who have struggled in mainstream settings, providing a nurturing and structured environment tailored to their needs. The school features classrooms dedicated to vocational subjects, including a large workshop and salon, as well as general teaching spaces for Maths and English, all equipped with whiteboards.

Students benefit from freshly prepared meals delivered by a mobile food van each lunchtime. The school takes pride in its strong student outcomes, with 98% of learners achieving qualifications and 80% progressing onto Further Education last year.
