Job summary

Leigh Academy Peninsula East is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant (1:1) to support a KS1 pupil with communication and interaction needs. You will work closely with class teachers and the SEN team to deliver tailored support in line with the child’s EHCP.

The role requires patience, a proactive approach and a passion for helping children with additional needs access learning, develop independence and feel safe within the school environment. Term Time + 1, 32.5 hours.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting SEND pupils or children with complex needs.
• Strong grasp of both spoken and written English and Mathematics, alongside excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the designated child throughout the school day, providing tailored support to help them access learning, develop independence and feel safe and supported.
• Collaborate with class teachers, the SEN team and external professionals to meet the child’s individual needs.
• May include supporting the child with aspects of personal care as part of ensuring their wellbeing.
