Job summary

Step Teachers is recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to support a pupil on a one-to-one basis in a welcoming primary school. The role focuses on enabling access to learning, supporting communication and wellbeing, and implementing strategies from the class teacher and SENDCo.

The ideal candidate will have SEND experience, strong communication skills, and a patient, caring approach to helping every child achieve their potential within an inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Previous SEND experience is essential.
• Experience supporting children on a one-to-one basis is desirable.
• Patient, caring, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child welfare practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with SEND
• Assist the pupil in accessing classroom learning and activities
• Support communication, emotional wellbeing, and social development
• Implement strategies provided by the class teacher and SENDCo
• Encourage independence and confidence
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
• Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
