Job summary

Prince Avenue Academy and Nursery is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with SEND and provide general classroom assistance. Experience with specific learning needs is desirable and the role offers opportunities for professional development within a supportive team.

The successful candidate will work under teaching staff, promote inclusive learning, and help pupils with literacy, numeracy, and social welfare matters while maintaining safeguarding commitments.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with specific learning needs is desirable.
• Ability to support pupils 1:1 with literacy and numeracy skills.
• Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Work with individuals with SEND under the direction of teaching staff.
• Demonstrate competence in implementing planned learning activities / teaching programmes as agreed with colleagues, adjusting activities according to pupil's response.
• Be able to support pupils 1:1 with literacy and numeracy skills.
• Promote the inclusion of children with SEND both within the classroom and during non class-based learning, ensuring access to learning through appropriate clarification, explanation and resources.
• Help children with social, welfare and health matters.
