Job summary

Justteachers Ltd in Bradford is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEND Support Assistant to join a supportive school from September. The role is full-time and involves providing individualised help to a pupil with SEND to access learning and build confidence within the classroom and wider school environment.

You will work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and parents to tailor support to the pupil’s needs, with potential for permanent progression beyond the initial temporary period.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
• Understanding of Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language Needs, SEMH.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with SEND during the school day.
• Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs.
• Support the pupil to engage in lessons and classroom activities.
• Implement strategies from teachers and external professionals.
• Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction.
• Assist with communication, sensory and emotional needs.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff.
• Support pupil during transitions and activities.
• Promote independence and confidence with appropriate support.
