Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a caring 1:1 SEND Support Assistant to support a Reception-aged pupil with additional needs at a primary school in Fawdon, North East England. You will help the child access learning and build confidence in a warm, inclusive classroom.

You will work closely with the class teacher and support staff, promoting communication, independence and positive interactions throughout the day, ensuring safeguarding and well-being.

Qualifications

• Patience and empathy in supporting a child with SEND.
• Strong verbal and non-verbal communication.
• Ability to work well with teachers and support staff.
• Commitment to inclusive practices and safeguarding.
• Desire to help children access learning and develop social skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Reception pupil with SEND.
• Support the pupil's engagement in classroom activities and routines.
• Encourage communication, independence and positive interactions.
• Work closely with the class teacher and wider support staff.
• Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
