Job summary

Protocol Education Ltd is recruiting a 1:1 SEND Support Assistant to work in a specialist school in Durham. You will support a pupil with complex needs and challenging behaviour, providing dedicated 1:1 assistance and contributing to a safe, structured learning environment.

The role requires resilience, calmness and patience, with daily PAYE pay and term-time only scheduling. Training and safeguarding checks are provided, with opportunities to develop experience across SEND settings.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting SEND/Special Educational Needs or SEMH and challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
• Ability to build trust and maintain safeguarding and safety procedures.
• Resilience, patience and calm under challenging situations are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 classroom support to a pupil.
• Support emotional regulation and engagement with learning.
• Follow and implement behaviour support plans.
• Maintain safeguarding and safety procedures within the school.
• Communicate closely with the school team and relevant staff.
