Job summary

Protocol Education are seeking a compassionate SEND Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a Reception pupil in a primary school in the Fawdon area, Newcastle upon Tyne. You will support learning access, daily routines and the pupil's sensory, social and emotional development.

The ideal candidate may be an Occupational Therapist, OT graduate or therapy assistant with knowledge of child development and SEND, who can adapt support to meet individual needs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development and SEND
• Ability to adapt support to individual needs
• Empathy and patience when working with young children

Responsibilities

• Support a Reception pupil throughout the school day
• Assist the child to access learning and classroom activities
• Encourage independence and confidence in daily routines
• Support sensory, social and emotional development
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff
