Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment are supporting an independent SEND provision in Newton Abbot to appoint a full-time Mathematics Teacher (or Unqualified Maths Teacher/Tutor) for 1:1 delivery with a post-16 student who has ASD and complex needs.

The role runs from 8.30 to 4.30, with a daily rate of £135-£185 depending on SEND experience and qualifications. It offers a permanent path (temp to perm) with an annual salary between £23,256-£29,250 and a supportive, collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching Mathematics at secondary or college level.
  • QTS or equivalent qualification encouraged.
  • Unqualified Maths Teachers with SEND experience welcomed.
  • Experience working with vulnerable learners or additional needs is desirable.

Responsibilities

Job description

Axcis Education are supporting an independent SEND provision in Newton Abbot, who are looking for a full time Mathematics Teacher (or Unqualified Mathematics Teacher/Tutor).

Job Overview
  • To deliver bespoke Mathematics lessons to a post 16 student with ASD and complex needs on a 1:1 basis.
  • The working hours for this role are from 8.30 to 4.30.
  • The rate of pay is between £135-£185 a day, depending on your SEND experience and qualifications.
  • This is a permanent position (temp to perm - annual salary between £23,256 -£29,250).
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging and tailored Mathematics lessons on a 1:1 basis.
  • Support the educational and personal development of a post-16 student with ASD and complex needs.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and therapists to provide a holistic learning experience.
  • Create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements
  • Experience teaching Mathematics at secondary or college level.
  • Qualified Mathematics Teachers (QTS or equivalent) are encouraged to apply.
  • Unqualified Maths Teachers with relevant SEND experience are also welcome.
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people or learners with additional needs is desirable but not essential.
  • A nurturing, patient and positive approach to building relationships with students.
