Job summary

AP Education in Norwich is seeking a Functional Skills Tutor to provide focused 1:1 support for learners with SEND/SEMH. You will work with students from KS3 to KS4, delivering either the Functional Skills curriculum or SEND‑specific content.

The role requires compassionate, patient teaching, effective behaviour management, and collaboration with external professionals. DBS check required; QTS/HLTA preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH requirements.
• Experience delivering the Functional Skills curriculum to a high standard.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide face‑to‑face 1:1 support for students from KS3 to KS4.
• Deliver the Functional Skills Curriculum or SEND‑specific.
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies and patient teaching.
• Provide a therapeutic and adaptable approach to education.
• Perform baseline academic and emotional assessments to inform targeted support.
• Prepare progress reports and liaise with external professionals as needed.
