Job summary

AP Education is seeking a Functional Skills Tutor (1:1 Support) in Great Yarmouth to work with learners with SEND/SEMH needs. You will deliver Functional Skills content, support attendance, and liaise with external professionals to tailor interventions.

The role offers flexible hours with up to 30 per week, term-time only, and a pathway to help learners transition to appropriate education settings.

Qualifications

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH requirements.
• Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings is advantageous.
• Experience delivering Functional Skills with high standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the Functional Skills Curriculum or SEND-specific content.
• Implement positive behaviour management techniques.
• Provide therapeutic, adaptable education addressing individual needs.
• Perform baseline assessments to tailor support and intervention.
• Prepare progress reports and liaise with SALT/OT/Social Workers as needed.
• Track attendance using the attendance software.
• Assist learners in moving to mainstream or specialist settings.
