AP Education in Chelmsford is recruiting a Functional Skills Tutor for 1:1 support. You will work with learners aged KS3–KS4 with SEND/SEMH needs, delivering Functional Skills or SEND-specific content and maintaining detailed progress reports.

The role emphasizes therapeutic, flexible teaching and collaboration with professionals to support each learner's journey. The position offers guaranteed weekly pay, flexible hours up to 30 per week, term-time only, and access to training resources and CPD

Qualificações

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH requirements.
• Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
• Experience delivering the Functional Skills curriculum to a high standard.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, dependable and initiative-taking mindset.

Responsabilidades

• Provide face-to-face 1:1 support with students from KS3 to KS4.
• Deliver the Functional Skills Curriculum or SEND-specific content.
• Implement behaviour management using positive strategies.
• Provide a therapeutic, adaptable approach to education.
• Perform baseline academic and emotional assessments to inform targeted support.
• Prepare detailed daily/weekly progress reports and liaise with external professionals as needed.
• Manage attendance reporting via attendance software.
• Assist learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist education settings.
