AP Education is seeking dedicated Functional Skills Tutors for 1:1 support in Leiston (IP16 4ER). The role involves delivering Functional Skills or SEND-specific curricula to KS3-KS4 students with complex needs, including SEMH and ASD.

You will perform baseline assessments, record progress, and collaborate with SALT/OT/social workers as needed, while supporting transitions to further education. Flexible, term-time hours with up to 30 hours per week and weekly pay.

Qualifications

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH requirements.
• Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
• Experience delivering the Functional Skills curriculum to a high standard.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, dependable, and initiative‑taking mindset.

Responsabilités

• Deliver the Functional Skills Curriculum or SEND-specific instruction.
• Implement effective behaviour management using positive strategies and patience.
• Provide a therapeutic and adaptable approach to education, meeting each learner’s needs.
• Perform baseline academic and emotional assessments to guide targeted support.
• Liaise with SALT, OT, or Social Workers for multi‑agency collaboration as needed.
• Manage daily attendance reporting via the attendance software.
• Assist learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist education settings.
