Qualifications

  • Enhanced DBS (Update Service) or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-to-one tuition tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to support EHCPs and targets if applicable.
  • Build trusting relationships and encourage confidence and independence.
  • Use differentiated teaching strategies to support engagement and progress.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on student progress.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are looking for a compassionate, patient, and dedicated 1:1 SEN Tutor to provide personalised tuition to pupils in the York (YO26) area.

This rewarding role involves delivering tailored learning sessions to students with a range of additional needs, helping them build confidence, develop key skills, and achieve their individual learning goals. The role offers flexible, part-time hours during weekdays, making it ideal for qualified teachers, tutors, teaching assistants, or experienced SEN professionals.

  • Deliver engaging one-to-one tuition sessions tailored to each student's needs and abilities.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to support individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and learning targets where applicable.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students and encourage confidence and independence.
  • Use creative and differentiated teaching strategies to support engagement and progress.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on student progress.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Dyslexia, or other additional learning needs.
  • Experience in tutoring, teaching, or supporting learners on a one-to-one basis.
  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
