Job summary

Smile Education are recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a child with complex needs in Oldbury. You will work closely with the class teacher to deliver personalised learning and help the child access the curriculum.

Role requires passion for supporting children with additional needs, knowledge of communication strategies, and the ability to maintain routines and promote inclusion throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEN and additional needs.
• Ability to provide dedicated 1:1 support in a primary school setting.
• Knowledge of communication strategies and AAC would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide high level 1:1 support to the child to access the curriculum.
• Assist with communication and language development, including non-verbal cues.
• Encourage interaction and engagement with peers and adults.
• Differentiate activities to match the child’s developmental level.
• Maintain routines and structure throughout the day.
• Support with independence and personal care as required.
• Follow health, wellbeing and safeguarding procedures.
