Job summary

Smile Education are recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a child with complex needs in an Oldbury primary school. The role requires patience, empathy and the ability to work closely with the class teacher and school team.

You will support communication, learning and social engagement, including non-verbal cues, PECS and other aids. The position is full-time, long-term, starting ASAP, with school hours Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEN and additional needs.
• Ability to support a child with autism, communication difficulties, or complex learning needs.
• Confident providing 1:1 support in a primary school.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to the child throughout the school day.
• Support communication and engagement, using PECS, signing or other AAC methods.
• Help with learning, routines, structure and independence across activities.
• Assist with personal care and toileting as needed.
• Monitor health and wellbeing and follow safeguarding procedures.
