Job summary

Value Education LTD is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs in mainstream schools across the Tameside area. This full-time, long-term role starts in September with potential for permanent contracts for strong performers.

You will assist pupils with ASC, ADHD, speech and language needs and other learning difficulties, promoting inclusion and engagement in lessons, under the guidance of teachers and SENCOs.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEN in schools or related settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Calm, patient, nurturing approach to pupils.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals.
  • Willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS via Update Service if not already held.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with additional needs in a mainstream setting.
  • Support pupils with ASC, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH and learning difficulties.
  • Help pupils access learning and stay engaged in lessons.

Salary: £95 - £110 per day (dependent on experience)

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

We are seeking caring, patient and committed 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils in Mainstream Settings across the Tameside area. These full-time, long-term roles start in September, with many offering the potential for permanent contracts to the right candidates.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, Support Workers, Care Workers or graduates looking to develop a rewarding career in education.

The Role

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to pupils with additional needs within a mainstream classroom setting.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils individually throughout the school day.
  • Working with children who may have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, learning difficulties or other additional needs.
  • Helping pupils access learning and fully engage in lessons.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Collaborating closely with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to implement tailored support strategies.
  • Encouraging pupils' independence, confidence and social development.
What We Are Looking For

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN in schools, care, youth work or similar settings.
  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
  • A flexible and proactive attitude.
  • A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one.
