Job summary

Randstad Education in the Huyton area of Knowsley seeks a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a Year 2 mainstream primary with Special Educational Needs. The role runs term-time, 08:30–15:30, supporting a pupil with autism in a nurturing, inclusive setting.

You will work closely with the class teacher to provide individualised support, assist with lesson activities, monitor progress and ensure pupil safety and wellbeing throughout the day.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of experience in UK schools or similar care setting, SEN/Autism experience preferred.
• Enhanced DBS check on update service or willingness to apply, and eligibility to work in the UK.
• Strong verbal and written communication with pupils, staff and parents/carers.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with complex needs and commitment to long-term, full-time work.
• Professional references from recent employers.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small group support tailored to individual pupil needs.
• Assist the lead teacher with lesson plans and educational activities using specialist strategies.
• Foster an inclusive, positive environment promoting wellbeing, independence and social interaction.
• Promote positive behaviour and manage conflicts in line with school techniques.
• Collaborate with SENDco and staff to monitor, record and report pupil progress.
• Ensure pupil safety and assist with personal care or mobility where required.
