Job summary

GSL Education in Sutton is seeking a warm, reliable SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with ASD in a primary setting. You will provide tailored 1-to-1 support, help with lessons, routines and social interactions, and work closely with the class teacher to promote engagement and independence.

The role requires patience, empathy and a proactive approach to safeguarding. A Clear Enhanced DBS check and GCSEs in Maths and English are expected; SEN training is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with SEN is desirable but not required.
  • GCSE English and Maths at A*-C or equivalent.
  • Enhanced DBS check is required.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Understanding of autism, ADHD, SLN, SEMH.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1-to-1 support for ASD pupils.
  • Adapt learning materials and visuals to individual needs.
  • Support with routines, transitions and personal care as needed.
  • Help manage anxiety and emotional needs of pupils.
  • Promote pupil wellbeing, engagement and inclusion.
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school policies.
  • Collaborate with teachers and wider school staff.
