Job summary

GSL Education - Manchester is recruiting a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant for a Year 3 pupil with ASD in Tameside. This full-time, long-term role requires building trust and supporting access to learning throughout the school day.

The ideal candidate will have ASD experience in a primary setting (KS1/KS2), NVQ Level 2/3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent, and fluent English. DBS and references are expected.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism (ASD).
  • Experience in Primary, ideally KS1/KS2.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or working towards) for Teaching Assistants, or equivalent.
  • Fluent, confident spoken English essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with ASD under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Build a trusting relationship to support engagement, communication and emotional regulation.
  • Support access to learning within provision and class activities, adapting tasks as needed.
  • Support pupil towards EHCP targets, feedback progress to teacher and SENCO.
  • Use visual supports, sensory regulation and structured routines.
  • Assist with transitions and unstructured times like playtime and lunchtime.
  • Attend to personal care needs in line with school policy.
  • Liaise with parents, therapists, and external professionals as part of the wider team.
  • Undertake safeguarding training and follow procedures.
