Job summary

GSL Education are recruiting a dedicated Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex needs in a Redbridge primary school.

You will provide one-to-one support for children with ASD, help them access lessons and routines, and assist with personalised plans under the SENCO. The role requires safeguarding knowledge, an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, and a calm, patient, adaptable approach to education.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with ASD and very high additional needs.
• Recent experience working within a primary school setting.
• Proven ability to provide effective one-to-one SEN support.
• Strong communication, patience, and behaviour management skills.
• Calm, caring, and adaptable approach in supporting pupils.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support for pupils with SEN, including ASD and complex learning needs.
• Support pupils in accessing classroom activities and following structured routines.
• Use positive behaviour strategies to encourage engagement and emotional regulation.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised support plans.
• Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.
• Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
