Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a patient SEND Specialist Tutor to support a Year 11 learner with SEMH and complex needs in Whickham. The role is a 1:1 tutoring contract delivering 15 hours per week during school hours, with progress reports to be completed weekly.

You will build trusting relationships, tailor sessions to rebuild confidence, and work towards academic and personal wellbeing in a safe, supportive environment. DBS required.

Qualifications

• Experience with students requiring SEMH support and complex needs.
• Background in teaching, tutoring or support work.
• Patience, resilience and creativity in learning approaches.

Responsibilities

• Build a positive and trusting relationship to support engagement in learning.
• Deliver tailored, engagement-focused sessions for a Year 11 learner.
• Support SEMH development and help regulate emotions and resilience.
• Provide structure during transitions and monitor progress with clear feedback.
• Maintain attendance records and complete weekly progress reports.
