Job summary

AP Education is recruiting SEMH Tutors (1:1 Support) for Bungay and surrounding areas in North Suffolk. You will support learners with complex needs including SEMH, ACEs, Autism and related conditions, delivering core subjects or SEMH-focused sessions.

The role involves baseline assessments, progress reporting, and collaboration with SALT, OT or Social Workers when needed. QTS or HLTA preferred, or two years UK experience without formal qualifications.

Qualifications

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, dependable and initiative-taking mindset.

Responsibilities

• Deliver core subjects (Maths, English, Science) or SEMH-specific.
• Implement behaviour management using positive strategies.
• Provide a therapeutic and adaptable approach to education meeting individual needs.
• Perform baseline academic and emotional assessments to inform targeted support.
• Prepare detailed progress reports and liaise with external professionals as needed.
• Manage attendance reporting via attendance software.
• Assist learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist settings.
