Job summary

AP Education is seeking dedicated SEMH Tutors for 1:1 support in Suffolk, offering up to 10 hours weekly, term-time only. You will work with learners with complex needs including SEMH, ACEs, Autism, and related conditions, providing personalised, therapeutic education and precise progress reporting.

You should have experience with SEND/SEMH settings, strong communication, and a compassionate, proactive attitude.

Qualifications

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH requirements.
• Background in education, youth work, or therapy settings is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver core subjects (Maths, English, Science) or SEMH-specific support.
• Implement effective behaviour management using positive strategies.
• Provide a therapeutic and adaptable approach to meet individual learner needs.
• Perform baseline academic and emotional assessments to inform targeted support.
• Prepare progress reports and liaise with external professionals to enable multi-agency collaboration.
• Assist learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist education settings.
