Job summary

American Marketing Association is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism, ADHD and other learning needs. You will work closely with teachers to adapt activities, promote positive behaviour and support emotional wellbeing.

A patient, collaborative approach and safeguarding commitment are essential. Role offers long‑term, full‑time opportunities with potential for permanent placement, across Durham and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pupils in a school setting is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills with pupils, parents and staff.
  • Ability to adapt activities to meet individual needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection procedures.

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils.
  • Support children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, SEMH, and other needs.

  • Assist with personal care where required.
  • Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.
    Whether you're an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Teaching Assistant, or have recent experience supporting children in education setting, we'd love to hear from you. We have a range of long-term, full-time opportunities available, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate., Previous experience working with children or young people.
  • Experience working within a Primary School, SEN School, Alternative Provision, Care, Youth Work, or Support Worker setting is advantageous.
  • Understanding of Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language needs, and challenging behaviour.
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
