Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join welcoming primary schools around Middlesbrough from September 2026.

You will support 1:1 and small groups, work with pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH and speech and language needs, collaborate with teachers, adapt activities, and promote positive behaviour while safeguarding learners. A genuine passion for helping children to reach their potential is essential.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people.
  • Experience working within a Primary School, SEN School, Alternative Provision, Care, Youth Work, or Support Worker setting is advantageous.
  • Understanding of Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language needs, and challenging behaviour.
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs to achieve their full potential.

1:1 Learning Support Assistant - Middlesbrough

Milk Education is working with a number of welcoming and supportive Primary Schools across Durham and the surrounding areas and is looking to recruit caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join schools from September 2026.

Whether you're an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Teaching Assistant, or have recent experience supporting children in education setting, we'd love to hear from you. We have a range of long-term, full-time opportunities available, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

You'll play a vital role in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping to remove barriers to learning while creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every child can reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
