Job summary

Education First Recruitment in London is seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Teaching Assistant (TA) or SEN TA to join schools across London from September.

You could work 1:1, in small groups or with a classroom team to support pupils with SEND, autism, ADHD, SEMH and other needs, helping them access the curriculum.

Qualifications

  • Experience with children or young people, particularly those with SEND.
  • Experience with autism, ADHD, SEMH or challenging behaviour is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with their learning and development.
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support where required.
  • Support children with SEND and additional needs.
  • Help pupils access the curriculum through differentiated activities.
  • Develop positive relationships with pupils.
  • Support behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Implement individual learning plans and EHCP strategies.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and engagement.
  • Create a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Are you a passionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Teaching Assistant (TA) or SEN Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity in education?

We are working with a range of excellent mainstream schools, SEND schools, specialist provisions and alternative settings across London who are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic support staff to join their teams from September.

Whether you are an experienced LSA or looking to take your first steps into education, we have opportunities to suit a range of experience levels.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.

Depending on the setting, you could be supporting pupils with:

  • Autism / ASD
  • ADHD
  • SEMH and behavioural needs
  • Speech and language difficulties
  • Complex learning needs
  • Moderate or severe learning difficulties
  • Physical and sensory needs
  • EHCPs and additional learning needs

You may work on a 1:1 basis, within small groups or as part of a classroom support team, helping pupils academically, socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

What We're Looking For

We would love to hear from candidates who have experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEND.

Experience as any of the following would be highly relevant:

  • Learning Support Assistant
  • SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Teaching Assistant
  • Behaviour Mentor
  • 1:1 Support Assistant
  • LSA
  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Experience working with autism, ADHD, SEMH, challenging behaviour or complex needs is desirable but not essential.

Most importantly, you will need to be patient, resilient, caring and passionate about helping children succeed.
