Job summary

Teaching Personnel are seeking a resilient, proactive Learning Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a secondary school pupil in Newcastle Upon Tyne. This full-time, term-time role pays £95–£110 per day depending on experience and sits in a supportive school environment.

You will work closely with teaching staff and the SEN team to deliver personalised support and build a trusting relationship with the student.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEMH or challenging behaviour in a school setting.
• Calm, confident, and consistent approach to behaviour management.
• Good safeguarding knowledge and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 behaviour support throughout the school day.
• Support safeguarding and emotional/physical wellbeing of the pupil.
• De-escalate incidents professionally using established strategies.
• Encourage engagement and reintegration into lessons.
• Deliver personalised interventions for emotional regulation and social skills.
• Maintain clear communication with staff, SENCOs, and carers.
