Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Chorley is seeking Behaviour & Learning Support Assistants to work in SEN/SEMH schools. The role covers 1:1 and small group support, with duties across classroom and non-classroom settings. A focus on encouraging engagement and positive behaviours is essential.

The ideal candidate brings patience, resilience, and good communication, with SEN/SEMH experience preferred but not essential. Roles are available full-time or part-time, with ongoing consultant support.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children/young people in education or care settings.
• Patient, resilient attitude.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• Genuine passion for helping pupils with additional needs.
• SEN/SEMH experience desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN/SEMH.
• Support students both in and out of the classroom.
• Encourage engagement and positive learning behaviours.
• Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours calmly.
• Build positive relationships and act as a role model.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to support academics, social and emotional development.
