Job summary

The Chelmsford Learning Partnership is seeking a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to support a child with medical needs at Barnes Farm Primary School. The role is 12.5 hours per week during term time, with a fixed term until March 2027, and 39 weeks per year.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the supportive school team and demonstrate patience and initiative. Applicants should have experience in schools, strong behaviour management skills, and GCSEs in Maths and English (A-C).

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting children in a school setting.
• Strong behaviour management skills.
• Able to support the child's medical needs and willing to deal with intimate care needs.
• Knowledge of strategies to engage pupils with specific and significant needs.
• Demonstrates patience, calmness and flexibility at all times.
• Commitment to high achievement from pupils and themselves.
• Excellent organisation and inter-personal skills.
• GCSEs in Maths and English at grade A-C or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of ICT.
• Willing to undertake training and support individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Support a child with medical needs on a 12.5 hour per week basis, following school directions and safeguarding guidelines.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom environment and support pupils with additional needs.
• Work closely with school staff to monitor progress and behaviour and report concerns.
