Job summary

Dorset Council is seeking a caring, committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support for a named child. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider staff to ensure the child feels safe, supported and included in all aspects of school life.

This role is term-time only, 32.5 hours per week across 39 weeks, with a fixed term until 31 August 2027. The pro rata salary is based on hours and weeks worked, and includes annual leave and bank holiday entitlements.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to a child, in line with their individual learning and care needs.
• Support the child’s emotional, social, and academic development in the classroom and during other school activities.
• Work closely with teaching staff and parents to implement and adapt learning strategies.
• Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Assist with record keeping and observations as required.
