Job summary

Dorset Council is seeking a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support two Upper Key Stage 2 pupils. The role is 12 hours per week, mornings only, 9am–12pm, four days a week. The position is fixed-term and pro-rated to term-time weeks, with a supportive school environment and a focus on inclusive learning.

You will work closely with teachers to deliver tailored interventions, foster independence and confidence, and promote positive behaviours in and out of the classroom.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in a school or support setting.
• Empathetic, patient and committed to inclusion.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Be flexible, proactive and able to use their initiative.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support to two pupils in the upper Key Stage 2.
• Support learning across the curriculum and assist teachers with interventions.
• Encourage confidence, independence and a love of learning.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
• Support students inside and outside the classroom as needed.
• Support pupils with emotional or behavioural needs and help develop social skills.
