Job summary

eTeach UK Limited is seeking a Specific 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant to support a child in EYFS with special educational needs within a classroom setting. The successful candidate will deliver a bespoke curriculum under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCo, supporting daily routines and behaviour management.

The role is term-time only, 30 hours per week, 08:45–15:30, with a temporary contract linked to the child.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.
• Previous experience working with children.
• Ability to work on your own initiative.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children and adults.
• Ability to use relevant technology/equipment.
• A positive, flexible, team‑focused attitude.
• A DBS on the update service or willingness to complete a new one.
• Desirable: Level 3 Teaching Assistant / Early Years Practitioner qualification.
• Desirable: Recent school‑based references (within the last 2 years).

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support for a child with special educational needs.
• Support the pupil— and others where appropriate— with their daily routine, learning, emotional regulation, behaviour, social interactions, and self‑care.
• Build supportive, caring, secure, and trusting relationships with the pupil.
• Under the guidance of the class teacher/SENDCo, implement appropriate programmes to support children with Special Educational Needs.
• Promote pupil engagement and independence.
• Work with external professionals to plan and deliver provision for pupils with high levels of need.
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers.
• Carry out personal care duties if required.
• Undertake wider classroom duties as directed by the class teacher.
• Provide lunchtime supervision in the dining hall and/or playground areas.
