Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking an experienced Learning Partner to work full-time in a North Bristol primary school, providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child in Key Stage 2 with complex behavioural needs. You will collaborate with the class teacher and SEND team, staying patient, calm and emotionally regulated.

The role focuses on de-escalation, positive behaviour strategies, building trust, and adapting approaches to individual needs.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with complex or challenging behaviour.
• Knowledge of de-escalation and regulation strategies.
• Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries.
• Experience with SEND, social, emotional or behavioural needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day.
• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the child.
• Use positive behaviour management strategies to encourage engagement.
• Recognise potential triggers and use effective de-escalation techniques to prevent escalation.
• Support the child with emotional regulation, communication and engagement with learning.
• Maintain clear, consistent and appropriate boundaries.
• Adapt approach to meet the child's individual needs.
• Help create a safe, predictable and supportive school experience.
