Job summary

East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Cowick CE Primary School in Goole is seeking a Teaching Assistant 1:1 to support a named child in Reception. This fixed-term role runs until 31 August 2027, is part-time (28.75 hours per week) and term-time pro rata, with duties centred on close collaboration with teachers and SEND staff.

We are looking for a patient, flexible person who can build positive relationships with children and families, uphold safeguarding, and contribute to our inclusive ethos.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in an EYFS setting.
• Experience of working with children with SEND including neurodivergent conditions.
• Ability to support children’s learning, development and wellbeing.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Willingness to contribute positively to the life and values of the school.
• Experience of supporting children with speech, language and communication needs.
• Knowledge of strategies that support communication, emotional regulation and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a named child in Reception.
• Collaborate with class teachers, SEND staff, parents and external professionals to tailor support.
• Support learning, development and well‑being while building positive relationships.
• Work flexibly to suit the child’s needs and contribute to a supportive school environment.
