Job summary

The Education Specialists are recruiting an EYFS Teaching Assistant for 1:1 support in a welcoming primary school in Netherton. You will assist a Reception pupil with ASD needs, fostering emotional regulation, attention, and social development.

Role requires experience in EYFS/primary, understanding of SEND, and a patient, proactive approach; DBS check is required or obtainable via The Education Specialists.

Qualifications

• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in EYFS or primary education.
• Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly autism or social and emotional needs, is desirable.
• A patient, nurturing and proactive approach.
• Understanding of emotional regulation, social communication and positive behaviour strategies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through The Education Specialists.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
• Help develop attention, concentration and engagement in learning.
• Support emotional regulation and transitions between activities.
• Encourage positive social interactions and an understanding of boundaries.
• Use the pupil's interests to promote learning, confidence and independence.
• Work closely with the class teacher to support the pupil's development.
