Job summary

Educato Limited is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 autism support in an EYFS/KS1 mainstream classroom in Irlam. The role runs Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, full-time until the end of the academic year.

The successful candidate will help the child access learning, build independence, and manage transitions with a patient, consistent approach. Experience with autism is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with autism or additional needs.
• Experience in EYFS or KS1 settings.
• Calm, patient, and consistent approach.
• Strong understanding of behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with a child.
• Confidence working on a 1:1 basis.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing needs.
• Passion for helping children access education and become more independent.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a child with autism.
• Help the child access learning within a mainstream classroom.
• Support development of confidence and independence.
• Assist with emotional regulation and transitions throughout the day.
• Adapt activities to the child’s individual needs.
• Support positive behaviour and engagement.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and support team.
• Foster positive peer relationships.
• Follow individual support strategies and track progress.
