Job summary

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Autism and Dyslexia at a primary school in Kirkby from mid-September. This full-time, long-term position offers rewarding opportunities to tailor support and build strong relationships with the pupil and the school team.

Experience with ASC/Dyslexia or SEND is desirable, with comfort handling challenging behaviours and collaborating with teachers, SENCO, and support staff.

Qualifications

  • Clear communication and teamwork with staff and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Support a pupil with Autism and Dyslexia throughout the school day.
  • Help the pupil access classroom learning and differentiated activities.
  • Implement behaviour support strategies consistently and effectively.
  • Promote emotional regulation, confidence and independence.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff.
  • Encourage positive social interactions and engagement with peers.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback on development and wellbeing.

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in the Kirkby area from mid-September.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to provide tailored support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Dyslexia. The role will suit an individual who thrives on building positive relationships, can remain calm in challenging situations, and is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.

Due to the needs of the pupil, experience supporting children with challenging behaviour, additional needs, or SEND is highly desirable.

The Role

The Ideal Candidate
  • Has experience supporting children with Autism, Dyslexia, or other SEND needs.
  • Has worked with children who may display challenging behaviour.
  • Is patient, resilient, and able to maintain a calm approach under pressure.
  • Can build strong professional relationships and act as a positive role model.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is passionate about making a genuine difference to a child's educational journey.
  • Holds relevant TA, childcare, health and social care, or education-based qualifications (desirable but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
